Assistant Manager of Compliance

Hours: Part-time - 2 to 3 days a week (Remote)
Salary: £30,000

The practice is are looking for an accountant that will be able to join them and quickly make an impression.

Ideally they want a accountant who is able to join the practice and manage a small team and make an immediate impact on workflow. Initially they ideally want someone to manage compliance of the practice.

The directors are looking for more than just an employee who will want to move in a few years’ time. They want someone who wants to become a key part of the business and eventually become a partner – to get stuck in and build a future for themselves.
  • The successful person will be responsible for the review of year-end accounts and tax returns for sole traders, partnerships and limited companies. They will also need to give basic tax advice.
  • They need to be someone with a can-do attitude who is very organised, who welcomes the opportunity to take on responsibility and has an interest in growing and becoming a key part of the business which could include networking and business development.
  • They need to liaise with external stakeholders, including clients and HMRC, keep abreast of legislation and communicate changes to other members of staff.
  • As well dealing with clients, the role will also include managing junior team members, so good people skills and being keen to undertake further training are key. Whilst there is some working from home the candidate will need to be able to come to the office to manage team meetings.
  • Candidates should ideally have a good working knowledge of Xero and Taxfiler or similar Cloud packages

Essential skills :
  • A current clean driving licence (or be prepared to get one within 6 months.)
  • Ability to use initiative and work largely unsupervised
  • Ability to take ultimate responsibility for running the team in the absence of colleagues
  • Ability to work under pressure to strict deadlines
