Senior Accounts & Tax Manager – Accountancy Practice – Liverpool

 

We are working with our client, a reputable accountancy practice based in Liverpool, who are looking to appoint a talented Senior Accounts & Tax Manager. This is a fantastic opportunity for an experienced accounting professional to manage a diverse client portfolio, lead a team, and deliver high-quality tax and accountancy services.

 

About the Role

As Senior Accounts & Tax Manager, you will take ownership of a client portfolio including Limited Companies, Sole Traders, Partnerships, and individuals. You’ll be responsible for preparing Self-Assessment Tax Returns, overseeing statutory accounts, and ensuring compliance with current tax legislation.

In addition, you will manage and support junior staff, delegating workloads and reviewing outputs, while acting as a trusted advisor to clients across Liverpool.


Key Responsibilities

  • Manage client portfolios, providing end-to-end financial management including bookkeeping, cash flow, and payment processing.

  • Prepare statutory accounts and ensure compliance with reporting standards.

  • Coordinate and oversee tax filings including Corporation Tax computations, VAT Returns, and Self-Assessment Tax Returns.

  • Act as a key point of contact for clients, delivering tailored financial and tax advice.

  • Supervise junior staff, reviewing work for accuracy and providing mentorship.

  • Carry out company secretarial duties where required.

  • Maintain confidentiality and uphold professional standards at all times.

Requirements

  • Minimum 5 years’ experience within an accountancy practice.

  • Strong technical knowledge of accounts and tax legislation.

  • Proficiency with Xero, QuickBooks, and Sage (CCH experience desirable).

  • Excellent attention to detail and strong time management skills.

  • Confident in client-facing roles, with the ability to advise and liaise professionally.

Salary & Benefits

  • Salary: £40,000 – £45,000 (dependent on experience).

  • Holidays: 25 days plus Bank Holidays.

  • Hours: Full-time, Monday to Friday, 9:00am – 5:00pm (1-hour lunch break).
